From the research we have done so far, we have learnt what codes and conventions we need to use so people will be able to recognize our music videos genre. In our video we need to show band members playing instruments as this is a typical element of indie-pop videos. The editing of our video needs to be cut to the beat as most indie-pop videos do this. From other videos we have looked at we have learnt we need lots of CU's of the band/artist and that we don't need to take the lyrics word for word. This gives us the freedom to break conventions to make are video unique.
Looking at other indie-pop videos they are more experimental and fun than other music genres, such as pop, this has given us the inspiration to be more creative with our video and try use idea thats haven't been done before. We need to make sure that the band in our video are able to lip sync to a good standard so our video looks professional and not amateur.
What we have also discovered from analysing music videos using Goodwin's theory, is that the majority of the videos use elements of his theory at some point in the video, whether it be through close ups, creating a star image or the relationship between the lyrics and the music etc. Therefore, we feel that it is important to refer to this theory when we are making our own music video.
Nice post! Good awareness of what your research has revealed.
