Researching our genre has given us an insight of typical features in the indie-pop genre. When planning our video we need to use these features as to make our product look like it belongs to this genre.
We need to keep in mind cinematography, such as using a lot of close ups when filming the artist/band. From what we have researched, the main vocalist will get the most close-ups as they're the main focus, however, we will have a close up of each member of the band and the instruments used.
Also, we will make sure we feature and use typical instruments that belong to this genre, such as drums, guitars and a microphone. This is important as these instruments are in almost every indie-pop song, and therefore this is an important way of being able to distinguish the genre.
We also need to take into consideration the costume as this is one of the most important things when it comes to the indie-pop genre. From our images research, we have found that most indie-pop bands wear the same clothing; casual and block colours and not much care gone into their appearence. However, some of our research has helped us discover that some indie-pop bands, such as "Florence and the Machine" do take care over their appearence and looks and therefore, this gives us the freedome to choose if we want to make our band look casual or not.
Typical indie-pop videos are quite different, quirky and fun compared to most other genres. So, when we are making our video we need to keep this in mind so it'll fit the indie-pop genre well. We also need to remember that most indie-pop videos also feature a performance at some point during the video, therefore it's important that we have shots of our band performing within our music video.
If we keep in mind all these typical conventions of the indie-pop genre, we hope that our video will reflect this genre well and look professional and like it belongs to this genre.
