One of the main typical features of an Indie-pop video is lots of close ups of the main singer, this video definitely does this as nearly every shot features Florence. They do this as the video is used to promote the artist and to try and persuade people to buy the album/single. Using lots of close ups of the artist makes people and especially her fans relate to Florence and as a result want to go out and buy the song because it features her. Another feature is what the song is actually about, most indie-pop songs are about friendship and love. Cosmic Love is all about love and how you will give anything for love. Even though the narrative is clearly shown when you watch Florence perform in her video her moves and facial expression tell a story, this could be class as her narrative and her doing this whilst singing could be her performance as most indie-pop video tend to do both. Indie-pop artists tend to show the instruments being played in their video, Florence has gone against this but you can still clearly hear that there is a lead/backup singer, keyboard, drum and guitars. These are the basic instruments used in the indie-pop genre. Doing some more research into this song I also found out Florence and the Machine used a harp as well, this is more usual instrument used. The images used to create this video are funky and fun as there are good use of colours that link with the atmosphere of the song as I think it kind of creates an 'alien' atmosphere like you would expect a spaceship to appear in the video. Florence herself is a character you would expect to be in the indie-pop genre as she is quirky and different compared to R 'n' B artists, she has a different image and wears different clothing.
You identify some of the features of an indie pop music video - may be worth stating how they are a little different to other more mainstream videos?
